What is a good free Mac application that I can publish quality brochures & flyers on?

Can you answer Mountain Girl's question about brochures?:

I am a beginner on the Mac & publishing stuff. But need to make some brochures & flyers. Please suggest a good application for my uses. Thank you!
Macbooks don't come with MS Office (duh) and I have decided not to buy it because I'm sick of being conned by Microsoft! I am using Neo Office but it won't serve my needs for this unfortunately.

Scribus is a great, FREE, open source, desktop publishing app for OS X.

Highly recommend it:

you need the adobe suite - photoshop, indesign, illustrator. they cost quite a bit, but are worth every penny. or you could just get them illegally

This should help:

I would suggest using GIMP for photo editing, Inkscape for Illustration/vector graphics, and Scribbus to put it all together - for your brochure and flyer designers…

BTW, if your serious about becoming a designer for the long haul…there are great people over at who are novice designers upwards to professional designers….some high profile designers who have even written books are on there. Its a great place to learn about the industry, best practices, learn techniques, and just a great design community. Hope to see ya come on by!

I'd suggest Neo Office: it's an open source (free) program that has tools very similar to Microsoft Office and it's designed for Mac. It's got tools that compare to PowerPoint, Excel, and Word - plus it really easy to use.

If you Google Neo Office you'll find the download link.

Enjoy!
