Go into Word or WordPerfect and experiment. Fonts are like colors, use them wisely, variedly and don't be afraid to change up. Look at the context of what you are creating and imagine your own eyes being amazed and intrigued without getting tired because there is too much diversity. Mist

Studies have shown that fonts with serifs –those little bits at the bottoms and ends of characters — make copy earier to read; they help "jump" the eye along as one reads. So Times New Roman and similar choices tend to be easier on the reader's eye. And an easier read, subconsciously, helps the reader enjoy what they read, and develop a positive opinion of your information.

What Buffalobob wrote is very good advice.
My main advice is do not use too many fonts. They are fun, but it is very easy to mess up a design by cluttering it with visual static. Keep it simple and readable.

I never use more than 2 different typefaces when designing. I usually use one sans serif (no little tails on letters) and either a script or serif to balance it out. Instead of using lots of different typeface, play with the sizes and appearance (bold, italic) of your type. I have to say I use Arial a lot for my simple sans serif type. Universal is good too. Just make sure everything is easy to read. If you use unique typefaces and are bringing your brochure to a print house, make sure you put the type files on the cd with the brochure.
