People lick their fingers to make it easier to turn the pages because the corners will stick to their wet fingers.

People do not lick the pages. They actually lick their forefinger or thumb. Licking renders the finger wet and the page they are turning (usually the topmost) sticks to the finger. Thus it can be turned more easily.

lick pages?ewww
now i lick or should i say take my tounge and touch my thumb and slide it with my "point" finger….
so the pages are easier to turn its like a magnet i guess you could say
makes it easier to find next page in book
instead of seeing what page your on at the beginning of that page

Usuaaly the paper will be very dry and also our fingers will dry.so when try to open a page with dry finger,it will difficult to open or more than one page will be stuck together and will be opened. But when u wet ur finger,it will easily stuck to the page,so tht only tht page will be easily opened.Usually some people keep seperate box with wet sponge ,so tht thy can use it every time thy open the page in a book. But as human beings bcom lazy thy started to lick their finger to make it wet and use it to open a page.
